Geothermal heating

Geothermal heating and cooling systems use stable underground temperatures to heat and cool a building more efficiently than standard air-source systems, since the ground stays at a relatively constant temperature year-round regardless of outdoor weather.

These systems require a larger upfront installation (including ground loop work) than conventional HVAC, but typically cost less to run over time. They're best suited to new construction or major renovations where ground loop installation is already part of the project.
