Tiny is the latest addition to the Separett family of compost toilets. The smaller design and lessons learned from several decades have led to a modern urine separation toilet that is especially suitable for installations where space is limited. This version of Tiny' has a container for both solids and liquid making it self contained. This gives an opportunity for installation in vans, boats and other mobile solutions where no external handling for any waste is available.' The toilet can be operated with 110-230V or with 12V solar cell / battery power. The fan has very low energy consumption (0.04 kWh / 24 h) and is therefore suitable for battery or solar cell operation.' The battery and batterycables are not included.
Unlike a traditional composting toilet there is no cranking or additives needed. The ADA compliant 17.5-inch seat height makes Tiny as comfortable as a household toilet. Separett Tiny is the best toilet solution for vans, tiny houses, RVs, boats, and off-grid properties.
The worlds most advanced toilet for camper vans and tiny homes is now available at Nomadic Supply Company, the Separett Tiny Urine Diverting Toilet w/ Urine Container! Separett Tiny is a urine diverting toilet that is custom developed for camper vans, tiny homes and other small spaces such as boats and cabins. All that is needed for installation of the Separett Tiny is 12V or 110'“240V electricity for the fan and a 50mm pipe for ventilating the toilet. The Separett Tiny is equipped with a fan that draws out moisture and air, which makes it completely odorless in the space where the toilet is located. Separett Tiny w/ Urine Container has an internal collection of both solid waste and urine where the solid waste ends up in a compostable and biodegradable bag made of corn starch and the urine collects in an internal urine tank.
If the Separett Tiny Urine Diverting Toilet w/ Urine Container is used in permanent housing by 2 people, the container for the solid waste needs to be emptied about once per week and the urine tank needs to be emptied 2-3 times per week. The urine tank is equipped with a sensor where the Separett logo on the toilet lights up red when it is time to empty!
The best small toilet for small spaces:
The Separett Tiny is the latest addition to the Separate family of urine-separating toilets. The smaller design and lessons learned from several decades have led to a modern urine separation toilet that is especially suitable for those installations where space is limited.
Completely Closed system:
This model of Separett Tiny Urine Diverting Toilet with Urine Container contains both the liquid and solid waste inside of the toilet with two containers, one for urine and one for the solid waste. If the toilet is being used in a permanent home of 2 people, the solid waste container needs to be emptied once per week. The urine container needs to be emptied 2-3 times per week. The urine container has a sensor that gives a signal to the Separett logo that lights up in a red color when it is time to empty the container.
Hygienic and odorless:
The operational reliability of the Separett Tiny Urine Diverting Toilet with Urine Container is high and the installation of the toilet is easy. The fan exhales the small odor that is formed, despite urine separation, and also contributes to a better indoor climate by constantly keeping the air in the space in motion. The fan is effective and silent and most effective during continuous usage.
View screen:
The view screen hides the solid waste in the container and is pushed to the side when you sit down to use the toilet. This results in that you only see the toilet waste when it is time to empty the solid waste.
Separett Tiny should be cleaned with an environmentally friendly non-abrasive cleaner. This toilet is made of a strong, high-gloss polypropylene material that risks being scratched if an abrasive cleaner or scrubbing plate is used.
The fan must run continuously to avoid odors in the bathroom. Regularly rinse the filter in the fan duct with water to maintain good ventilation.
1.' Always' sit down (who doesn't anyway?!). Sit a little further back than usual so that urine and solid waste are separated.
2. The view screens will slide away when you sit down.
3. Toilet paper can be thrown in the same bin as the solid waste.
Emptying of solid waste
The solid waste is collected in the waste container which is fitted with a compostable waste bag. For full-time use in a household of 2 people, the solid waste should be emptied approximately after 2 weeks of use. Open the upper part of the toilet to empty the solid waste. Make sure that the top is locked in its opened position before releasing it. Then follow the steps below:
1. Place the included lid on the container.
2. Lift the container by its yellow handle and pull it up out of the toilet.
3. Carry the container to where the waste will be handled.
The solid waste can then be handled in one of the following ways:
Option 1:' To be composted directly in an approved compost
Option 2:' To be incinerated directly in an approved incinerator
Option 3:' Place it in a container and have it standing in 'œhibernation' for at least 12 months by following the steps below:
A) Place in an appropriate location outdoors in a suitable container with a solid bottom.
B) Fill the container with a layer of soil (approx. 2 cm (0,8')), make sure that the container is properly ventilated so that air circulates in the container.
C) Let sit for 12 months. The bacteria in the soil will break down the harmful organisms in the feces, rendering the waste harmless.
D) After the storage period, the contents can be composted in an ordinary compost, garden compost or buried along with the compostable bio bag.

How often should the toilet be emptied?
If four people are using the toilet daily, a container will last about 3 weeks. It depends on toilet paper usage. The full container can be composted on your property.
How is it possible that the container with solids rarely needs emptying?
Since urine (85% of waste volume) is diverted, the storage capacity for solids is much greater. You only need to empty the container based on the number of users.
Are there unpleasant odors indoors?
No. As long as the fan runs continuously and the venting pipe is properly sealed, odors should not be a problem. Clean the fan filter and insect net regularly.
Are there unpleasant odors outdoors?
No. Urine and feces are separated, preventing latrine odors. Venting pipe placement can minimize any temporary odors right after usage.
Are there unpleasant odors from the leaching bed/soak-away?
No. The urine is absorbed into the ground and harmlessly percolates away, eliminating any odor.
Are there unpleasant odors from the Separett Ejektortank?
No. The urine odor is directed through the toilet ventilation system, diluted by air, and is undetectable by the time it exits outdoors.
Must the urine waste pipe contain a p-trap?
No, since any faint odor from the urine is ventilated out via the venting pipe, thanks to the continuous fan operation.
Are flies a problem with these toilets?
No, fly problems are rare, especially if the fan is left on, as the venting screen keeps them away.
Should the fan operate continually?
Yes, keeping the fan running dries the interior and extends its life. If it needs to be turned off, place the lid on the container.
Which is the best method for routing the venting pipe, through the roof or straight through the wall?
It is easier to route the venting pipe straight through the wall. Through-the-roof installations are more complex and harder to seal properly.
How much airflow does the fan create?
The airflow depends on the length of the venting pipe and the number of bends it has, so there is no simple answer.
Is an additional fan needed if you have a shower in the same room?
No. The bathroom ventilation can be handled by the continuous operation of the toilet fan.
Does the venting pipe need insulating?
No, the Separett Villa has a condensation collector, so insulation is not required.
Can the ventilation be run through a chimney stack?
No, it's not recommended. Moisture can damage mortar joints, and the plastic pipe may melt in the chimney stack.
Where do I lead the urine?
You can route urine to a grey water system, a simple leaching bed/soak-away, or a tank like the Separett Ejektortank.
Can I extend the urine outlet?
Yes, extending the hose is possible, but using a pipe is recommended for better drainage. Indoors, use a 32-40 mm pipe, and outdoors, use a 50-75 mm pipe.
Does the urine waste freeze in the winter?
No, under normal conditions. Ensure the pipe slopes downward continuously and use at least a 50 mm pipe outdoors. You may also insulate outdoor pipes.
How can I make a simple leaching bed/soak-away?
Dig a 2' x 2' x 2' hole, fill it with rocks, and cover it with landscape cloth. Ensure proper routing for the urine outlet. Check with local authorities if unsure.
Am I allowed to connect the urine waste hose to the greywater system?
Urine is sterile, but local regulations vary. Check with local authorities before connecting it to the greywater system.
How steep a drop must the urine waste pipe have?
The pipe should drop continuously to prevent blockages from urine salts or ice. A steeper drop helps avoid buildup.
Is it possible to reduce the risk of urine salt deposit build-up in the urine outlet?
Yes, rinse the urine basin with water after each use, and you can use Separett Bio Drain Cleaner tablets to prevent salt buildup. Use a drain cleaner if blockage occurs.
Is it possible to lengthen the hose on the Separett Ejektortank?
Yes, you can extend the emptying hose up to 20 meters, but only with a '¾' hose. Avoid using garden hose adapters as they may clamp too tightly.
Do I ever have to add anything?
Some users add Separett Absorb inside the container to keep the contents dry and odor-free.
Which type of toilet paper should I use?
You can use regular toilet paper in the Separett Villa.
Should I throw toilet paper in the container?
Yes, toilet paper helps keep the contents dry and makes them easier to handle during disposal.
Does the toilet function in cold rooms?
Yes. Cold temperatures may slow down composting, but it will resume when temperatures rise.
Can I use compostable waste bags?
Yes, we recommend using Separett Compostable waste bags, which are designed to break down slowly in compost conditions.
What should I do when the container is full?
Cover the container with the supplied lid, remove it, and add soil or composting material. Let it sit for six months before using it on non-edible plants.
Can the toilet tolerate freezing?
Yes, though composting may slow in freezing conditions.
Does the toilet need regular servicing?
Yes, you need to regularly clean the insect net and the fan filter to ensure proper function.
